BEFOREAFTERIllustration from the guide. Same sofa, table and cabinet – changed: curtains, light, layout, surfaces.
Sound familiar?
It aged while you weren’t looking.
“I’ve stopped noticing until someone visits.”
“I can’t spend $40,000 on a kitchen. And I don’t want builders in my house for months.”
“I bought new cushions and a rug, and it still looks the same.”
“Every room needs something. I don’t know where to start.”
What usually gets tried
New cushions and a rug
Nice things, same room. The light and the layout didn’t change.
Pinterest and TV makeovers
Gut renovations with big budgets. Not a house you’re keeping.
Painting one room
The color fought the cabinets and floors you kept.
The problem isn’t what you own. It’s the order you change things in.
The Refresh Method
Light first. Shopping last.
Most people start by buying things. Evelyn starts with light. Do these four in order and the free steps do most of the work.
- 1LightOne warm bulb color in the whole room and three lamps. Costs little or nothing, and changes how every color in the room looks.
- 2PaintOne safe wall color for the room, picked to go with the wood and floors you’re keeping.
- 3LayoutPull the sofa off the wall so the seats face each other. The room looks bigger and warmer straight away.
- 4StyleRemove, keep, add. The three things that date the room go first. Then what’s left looks deliberate.

The 1-Hour Room Glow Up
Page one of the guide. Five free changes in the room you sit in most. Take a photo first – you’ll want it.
- One warm bulb color – in every lamp and fitting
- Furniture off the walls – even a foot helps
- Surfaces cleared – to three things each
- Curtains raised and opened – to let the light in
- Three dated things out – the guide shows you how to spot them

Worked example · the living room playbook
One room. Three budgets.
Every playbook plans the same room three ways, so you can start with what you have this month:
- $0 – rearrange and edit – sofa 12" off the wall, rug under the front legs, lamps in a triangle, surfaces to three things, art down to eye level
- $150 – the glow – all of that, plus two table lamps ($70), warm 2700K bulbs ($20), two linen cushion covers ($40) and the curtain rod raised ($20)
- $500 – the finish – all of that, plus an 8×10 jute rug ($220), linen curtains hung high and wide ($90) and one large framed print ($40)

Four room playbooks
One room every weekend.
Each playbook has a Saturday-and-Sunday plan, layouts for the three most common room shapes, remove-keep-add lists, the three budgets, and one safe color and bulb pick.
Living roomWhere the sofa, the TV and the lamps go.
Main bedroomCalm and hotel-like, with the bed you have.
Guest or spare roomReady for family in one weekend.
Entry and hallwayThe first thing guests see.The Dated Features Fix Library
15 dated features. 3 fixes each.
Find what’s in your house. For each one: style it, disguise it or swap it – with a rough cost, so you only spend where it shows.

The Room Scorecard
Not sure where to start? Score it.
Five minutes per room. Ten quick checks, each 0, 1 or 2. The lowest total goes first. Here’s the living room above:
- Light: 1 of 2 – one lamp, mixed bulb colors
- Layout: 0 of 2 – everything against the walls
- Windows: 0 of 2 – heavy drapes, half closed
- Dated features: 0 of 2 – valance, tube TV
- Art: 2 of 2 – the one thing already right
- Total: 8 of 20 – do this room first

From Evelyn
“Keep the cabinets. Keep the floors. Keep the sofa. Make them look like you chose them on purpose.”
I made this for homes like the ones in my videos – lived in, loved and a little tired. Not show homes.
It’s the same thinking I use on the channel, written down room by room: what to keep, what to move, what to take out, and in what order.

Questions
Do I need to buy new furniture?
No. Every playbook has a $0 plan that only uses moving, editing and swapping bulbs.
I’m not handy. Can I do this?
Yes. The Glow Up and the $0 plans need no tools. Painting and hanging curtains come in the bigger budgets – do them yourself, or hand that page to a helper.
Is it worth it at my age?
You live in your home every day. The Glow Up costs nothing but an hour, so you’ll know tonight whether this is for you. If it isn’t, you get your money back.
My room is long, narrow or open plan. Will it work?
Each playbook has layouts for the three most common room shapes, and the Room Layout Library adds 30 more plans with measurements.
My style is different from yours.
Each playbook shows the same room in three looks – classic, warm modern and calm coastal. The method works for all of them.
What about my kitchen and bathroom?
They’re not in this guide. It covers the rooms you live in most: living room, bedrooms, guest room, entry and hallway. Kitchens and baths need their own plan.
How do I get it, and is the print big enough?
Straight after checkout you can open it in your account, and we email you the link. It’s a large-print PDF made for reading on a tablet, or print the pages you need.
What if I don’t like it?
